President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, representing the Cross River South Senatorial District, on his birthday on August 25.

The President celebrated Senator Ekpenyong as the youngest Senator in the 10th National Assembly and one of the bright young leaders contributing to Nigeria’s democratic development with energy, ideas and a strong sense of service.

An economist, financial analyst, and entrepreneur, Senator Ekpenyong served as Commissioner for Finance in Cross River State from age 29 for 8 years before his election to the Senate in 2023. He is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and has also served as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence.

President Tinubu commended the Senator for bringing his experience in public finance, enterprise, and administration to his legislative responsibilities, remaining connected to his constituents, and championing issues that affect young Nigerians as well as the development of the Niger Delta.

He also acknowledged Senator Ekpenyong’s role as South-South Zonal Coordinator of the City Boy Movement and his work in mobilising and engaging young Nigerians across the region.

“Senator Ekpenyong represents a generation of young Nigerians who have chosen to step forward and take responsibility for the future of our country. At a young age, he has already built an impressive record of public service, and I am confident that his best years of service still lie ahead.

“I congratulate him, his family and the people of Cross River South on this occasion and wish him renewed strength, wisdom, good health and many more years of impactful service to our nation,” President Tinubu stated.
