PRESIDENT TINUBU HAILS SENATOR BARAU JIBRIN ON HIS BIRTHDAY

President Bola Tinubu salutes the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, for his immense contributions to national development and his pro-people politics.

In a congratulatory message to Senator Jibrin on his birthday on Friday, June 19, President Tinubu also praises his leadership and law-making efforts to engender a more equitable Nigeria.

The Deputy President of the Senate, who is also the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, is an accountant turned lawmaker. He represents Kano North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

His key areas of legislative interest include education, agriculture, economy, youth and women’s empowerment for sustainable peace and societal progress.

President Tinubu remarks: ” Senator Barau Jibrin has distinguished himself wherever he has traversed. Within the accounting profession, he stood out.

“At the National Assembly, he had sponsored many important pieces of legislation. He also has the singular distinction of chairing both the House and Senate Appropriations Committees at different times.

“It was in appreciation of his contributions to the development of the community, especially in the areas of health and education, that the people of Tarauni Federal Constituency of Kano Central Senatorial District first voted him to represent them in 1999, even when he hailed from Kano North Senatorial District.”

Popularly known as Maliya, Senator Jibrin had also previously served his home state of Kano as Chairman of the state’s Investment and Properties Ltd. He also served as Commissioner of Science and Technology.

President Tinubu wishes the Senator more years and good health.
