Factcheck: President Buhari and The World Bank

Contrary to media reports, President Buhari did not ask the World Bank to give Northern Nigeria an unfair advantage over other parts of Nigeria.

What the President did, and justifiably so, was to upon assumption of office seek the help of the World Bank in rebuilding the beleaguered North-east, devastated by a long-running insurgency that has claimed in excess of 20,000 lives and created a humanitarian crisis of monumental proportions.

President Buhari has a pan-Nigerian mandate, and he will discharge his duties and responsibilities in like manner.

Any part of the country that requires special attention will receive it.

Factcheck: The Nigerian Army Immunization Programme

The Nigerian Army is not involved in any forceful immunizations of children in any part of the country.

According to the Army, “the Nigerian Army does not and will never carry out its medical outreaches or vaccination exercises for that matter in Schools.

We can therefore categorically inform the public that the ongoing rumours about Nigerian Army Personnel going round schools in military camouflage to forcefully immunize school children are not true and should therefore be discountenanced with.

Factcheck: Yam Exports

Reports circulating by the Africa Independent Television (AIT) that the yams exported abroad to UK and USA were rejected due to being rotten are false.

According to Mr. Michael Adedipe of ADES UK Foods and Drinks and Mr Yandev Amaabai of Wan Nyikwagh Farms Nigeria Limited, they refuted the reports, noting that the reports were false and misleading, adding that the yams were not rejected.

Mr. Adedipe, whose warehouse AIT visited, was shocked by the reports and noted that that the media house had completely fazed out the positive aspects of the project while overstating the negatives.

He explained that, “We that decided to venture in this project are aware of the risks involved because, with fresh produce … we’ll expect five to 10 per cent damages. I don’t know why they said the product got rejected. I’ve sent my release note. I’ve sent video of loading. I’ve sent every documentation to say that there is no issue like that at all.” Full details HERE
